An Indore-born, Mumbai-based playback singer and independent artist whose Navratri shows have become a fixture — her Surat garba nights draw crowds in the tens of thousands. She competed on Indian Idol at thirteen, then became familiar to television audiences singing the opening titles for Balika Vadhu and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. She appeared on Zee TV's Indian Pro Music League for the Mumbai Warriors under Kailash Kher and Shilpa Rao, and sang "Aavati Kalay", the Navratri garba written by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Known on stage for performing with a 25kg Puneri dhol while singing, and for pulling traditional Gujarati folk towards pop energy — which is why she is often billed as the Indian Shakira.
